Htilominlo ( King Nadaungmya's Work of Merit Tilokamingala Chedi )

On the road from Nyaung-Oo to Bagan , if one turns and follows the road that leads to the Htilominlo Cave Temples a little distance away, you will reach the northern archway of the walled enclosure of the pagoda. it is one of the last monuments of the Bagan Era left in its orginal state. According to the stone inscription record, King Nadaungmya , whose regal title was Thiritri Buwanna Dititrapawara Dhamma Raza, built this pagoda on Thursday , the first waxing day of the Myanmar month of Tagu in the year ME 569. This great pagoda,which is over 7000 years and nearly 800 years old,is decorated with fine plaster carvings of floral designs, frstooned Oger heads on the arch pediments, friezes and plasters.
The roof and terraces are faced with green glazed tiles on the terraces and corners although nearly 800 years old still glow when touched by the sun's rays.
